Cheshire rabbit rescue was set up in the late autumn of 2011 by my self after seeing a increase of rabbits being sold on because owners no longer wanted them, after the first large group of rabbits we took in were at risk from the families dog i made the decision that i would care for them until they could find forever homes. Since we started taking in unwanted rabbits we have successfully found homes for over 80 rabbits
Some times we cant always re-home the rabbits that come to us as they are too aggressive or they have a permanent illness, so we never try to re-home them we take on unwanted rabbits, evaluate them for 2 months and then once we are happy that they are fully settled and have shown their true individual natures we put them up for re-homing.
We do not breed or re-home them to breeders. we ensure only healthy and non aggressive rabbit's are re-homed.
If and when they need medical attention we get it them, we try to get as many vaccinated and neutered as possible but we only re-home on a basis where they will be continued to be vaccinated.
we are 100% passionate about animal/care and i believe animals have as many equal rights as anyone else. I am against breeding and using animals for personal gain other than companionship.
we will not re-home rabbit's to homes with snakes or other animals that would be fed frozen/live animals nor will i home-check these homes. nor will i allow rabbits to be given as presents to children, if you have a friend that loves animals and they are over 18 then i may consider it but other than that no.
My aim is to help as many unwanted rabbits as possible and to ensure they go to forever loving homes where they will stay and be loved and well cared for.
i am also trying to avoid rabbits being used as breeding machines.
Nothing about my rescue is profit, every penny we get goes straight to the rabbits and guinea pigs we love these creatures dearly and any money we get goes straight back in to caring for these lovely animals. the more we can get in to new forever homes the more we can help
II like to get to know any new owners and them me, which is why i give anyone who asks truth full insight about myself. excluding very personal information. I like to keep in touch with any new owners.
A adoption agreement is required to be signed before you take your rabbit home and you will be asked to fill out a home check form before a full home check is carried out
Home check's
When we do a home check we go from a check list. Any current pets you may have will be assessed as well as children. if you are a first time owner then we will ask to see how you handle the animal, as well as others in the home. We will also check out the home and garden or the main area where the rabbit will be living. We check for a few factors, where the hutch will be placed, access to concrete and size of exercise area. We will also ask you about your knowledge of rabbit feeding and requirements. If you are unsure of anything regarding care then please feel free to ask me. I am available to answer any questions you may have as well as ongoing help and advice
Keeping in touch
We ask all new owner's who adopt from us to keep in touch on a regular basis. We want to ensure that both animal and owner are happy with their lives and can continue to their relationship with each other
Any rabbits that are adopted from us must be brought back if you can no longer keep them, if you have a home lined up please let us know about the new home, a home check must be carried out by myself before any rabbit leaves your home. if the rabbit is re-homed without our know how we will take further action
Every rabbit has it's own individual personality but the behavior of any animal depends on your confidence when handling.
please allow up to 2 weeks for your rabbit to settle in, after this point their true personalities will come out. we aim to match up the right rabbit to the right family but if this does not always go to plan you are always welcome to fetch the animal back and pick a new one. We always encourage owners to be confident with their pets to ensure a long happy life together
We are unable to take rabbits in ourselves at this time but if you leave your details and the details of your rabbit as well as a photo we are more than happy to advertise your rabbit on our website to help find them a home
